1783 – Treaty of Paris

The original jurisdiction of the united States of America was not commercial, corporate, or administrative — it was spiritual and lawful. This new entity — “THE UNITED STATES” (in all caps) — functioned as a for-profit corporation operating in parallel to the original republic. Its codes and policies began to replace common law with commercial regulations, slowly converting citizens into corporate persons governed by contract, not covenant.
